 Description

Thrive is an anti-diet & Intuitive Eating support group created for folks who have rejected diet culture, are working toward healing their relationship to food and body, and are striving to live their fullest lives free from food rules and weight obsession.

Unlike a formal, multi-week Intuitive Eating coaching program (because we offer those, too!), Thrive is designed for folks who already have a solid Intuitive Eating foundation and are looking for community and connection while they continue to build and strengthen their practice.

For folks who are newer to the concept of Intuitive Eating and just starting to build their Intuitive Eating practice our 10 week Intuitive Eating group coaching program, Break Free: How to Eat Intuitively & Obsess Less About Food or our 4-module foundational self-study series, Empower are great places to start before joining this group.

Thrive groups are limited to 12 participants per session to create an intimate space where all participants can have their voice heard and questions answered. Groups are facilitated by non-diet registered dietitian and Certified Intuitive Eating Counselor, Dana Notte, but the content is very much tailored to the specific needs of the group at that specific meeting. In this group the role of the facilitator is to keep the conversation flowing, ensure the group guidelines are honored, make sure that everyone who wants to speak has a chance, and to offer Intuitive Eating insight and guidance where requested and desired by the group.

This group was created for you if:

  • You are done with dieting and are looking for connection and community with like-minded folks who are also working toward ditching diet culture and finding food peace.

  • You’ve been searching for a space to seek support, ask questions, celebrate your successes, navigate challenges, and continue to strengthen your Intuitive Eating practice.

  • You are already familiar with the principles of Intuitive Eating. For example: you have read the book Intuitive Eating, participated an intuitive eating workshop or other group, or have worked individually with an Intuitive Eating counselor. You definitely do not need to be an expert – we welcome folks at different stages of building their Intuitive Eating practice, but some familiarity with the 10 principles and the associated language is important to get the most from the group.

  • You are ready to *actively* participate in conversations about Intuitive Eating (i.e. this is probably not a great fit for someone just looking for a space to listen and learn. But if that’s you, we do have some self-study programs that might be just what you are looking for!)

This group is not a great fit if you are:

  • Brand new to exploring intuitive eating. If this is you, we’ve got some other resources to get you started, including a brand new 10-week group launching in 2024 that will offer you the guidance and structure to begin exploring in implementing the Intuitive Eating principles.

  • Actively pursuing intentional weight loss. While we believe in body autonomy and everyone’s right to decide what’s best for them and their bodies, Intuitive Eating is not a weight loss intervention nor is it compatible with the pursuit of intentional weight loss. Beyond that, many folks who come to Intuitive Eating do so after the (often years or decades-long) pursuit of intentional weight loss has failed them and been a source of significant harm. Thus, this is not a space that would be helpful for those pursuing intentional weight loss. Likewise, conversations of intentional weight loss would not be supportive for the audience this group was created for.

  • Experiencing an active eating disorder or in the early stages of eating disorder recovery. Intuitive Eating can be a very healing framework for those in recovery from an eating disorder. However, if you are in the early stages of recovery this group will not be able to provide you with adequate guidance or structure that is often necessary before Intuitive Eating can be fully integrated into your life. If you are currently engaging in significant disordered eating behaviors (like significant dietary restriction, purging, frequent binge eating, excessive or compulsive exercise) this group is not an appropriate starting place for your healing.

Meet Your Facilitator!

Dana Notte, MS, RD, CD, CEDS-C

  • Non-Diet Registered Dietitian

  • Certified Intuitive Eating Counselor

  • Certified Eating Disorder Specialist

  • Human who has healed their own difficult relationship with food

Dana discovered Intuitive Eating about a decade ago, which offered her the knowledge, skills, and tools to work toward healing her own relationship with food. Not only did this experience and framework change her life personally, but also the entire trajectory of her professional life. Since then, she has spent years studying and learning how to support others in finding the peace and ease around food they crave, all while existing in a culture that makes that a really difficult thing to do.
