Associate Dietitian Position

Description

The Associate Dietitian will provide comprehensive, personalized, and weight-neutral nutrition education and counseling to individuals seeking support in a variety of areas. They will have experience or interest in seeing clients seeking support for disordered eating, general health supportive diet education and counseling and at least one more of the following practice areas: eating disorders, diabetes management, GI disorders, sports nutrition, hormonal health, and/or other chronic health conditions.

This is a part-time (8+ clients/10+ hours/week), non-exempt, W-2 employee position to begin after the first insurance contract is obtained. Potential for additional hours after minimum caseload achieved. This is a hybrid position with the opportunity to see clients in-person at our South Burlington office as well as remotely. Flexible schedule, but consistency in availability and some evening hours required, weekend availability preferred.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Provide individual medical nutrition therapy to a minimum of 8 clients per week. To include comprehensive nutrition assessment, treatment planning, and on-going follow-up care. Actual caseload to be determined based on clinician availability and client need/demand.

  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of individual client sessions in practice management program.

  • Coordinate care with other members of treatment team, including families and supports, as indicated.

  • Timely submission of prior authorization requests to insurance companies, as needed.

  • Maintain schedule of individual clients, including scheduling follow-up sessions for current clients.

  • Complete and submit billing and time sheet at end of each week.

  • Participate in weekly team meetings, including peer case consultation.

  • Timely completion of additional administrative tasks, as needed.

  • Assist with additional projects, as requested by practice management (if desired).

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Excellent nutrition counseling skills including the ability to integrate principles of varying therapeutic modalities (e.g., CBT, DBT, ACT) and motivational interviewing to support behavior change.

  • Strong understanding of weight-inclusive care, Health at Every Size® principles, and the Intuitive Eating framework.

  • Practice in accordance with HIPAA, maintaining confidentiality of client protected health information.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate compassionately and effectively with clients, colleagues, and other members of the treatment team.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Excellent time management skills.

  • Proficiency in virtual communication platforms and technology.

  • Able to work independently with minimal oversight.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree.

  • At least 1 year of outpatient nutrition counseling experience.

  • Experience working with disordered eating + advanced training/expertise in one or more of the following practice areas: eating disorders, diabetes management, GI disorders, hormonal health, sports nutrition, or other chronic health condition(s)..

  • Experience with adolescents preferred.

Additional Requirements

  • Reside in Vermont or New Hampshire.

  • Registered dietitian with the Commission on Dietetic Registration.

  • Certified Dietitian in the state of Vermont (or ability to obtain certification immediately upon hire).

  • Practice philosophy aligned with principles of Health at Every Size® (HAES) and Intuitive Eating.

  • Reliable high-speed internet access (if working remotely).

  • Access to private space with door that closes to conduct nutrition counseling sessions (if working remotely).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified Intuitive Eating Counselor.

  • Certified Eating Disorder Specialist (CEDS).

Compensation

  • Competitive pay, commensurate with experience. $35.00+/hour.

  • Bi-weekly pay period.

  • Eligible for paid sick-time once average hours/week average >18/week.

  • Eligible for additional paid time off (PTO), paid holidays, and continuing education benefits if/when become full-time.
